Sustainnovation founders Rob Howe and Mark Myles came together with a common passion: to improve our communities, to combat global warming, and to implement sustainability as a core strategy for the business world. We have decades of experience with major US corporations and believe that in the modern day it is businesses that provide leadership in our direction as a global culture.
We have also both lived abroad in developing countries - Mark in Ecuador and Rob in Indonesia. We each returned to the US with a new perspective and the realization that we had a huge responsibility as global citizens - to become agents of change. Living abroad showed us firsthand that the adoption of western practices in the developing world has been detrimental to the environment, business, and culture. In fact, we realized that the choices we make in the developed world today will be mirrored in the developing world for years to come –in business practices, manufacturing techniques, infrastructure, materials, waste, etc.
For this reason, we need to transform business methodology and environmental policy so that sustainable models can be duplicated globally. This change is already happening with businesses, and is reaping multiple benefits: clustering disparate industries to maximize material and energy use, reducing cost by reducing waste, selling 'waste' products as feedstock for other enterprises, changing product designs for easier recycling, eliminating toxics use, and gaining competitive advantage through environmental compliance. The list goes on and on.
We are optimistic about this shift in the tide. With raised global awareness and a growing sense of consumer consciousness, the world is beginning to take notice that something needs to be done. Our contribution is Sustainnovation Consulting.
