Co-op America's mission is to harness economic
power - the strength of consumers, investors, and businesses
- to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable
society. Co-op America has certified Sustainnovation for
its commitment "to conduct business according to standards
that reach beyond contemporary practices in addressing
the needs of consumers, employees, communities, and the
environment."
Since 2002, 1% For The Planet has inspired
members of the business community to contribute 1% of sales
to environmental groups around the world. In return, this
growing alliance of companies is given the opportunity not
only to see their self-worth rise, but their net worth climb
as well.
Zero Emissions Research & Initiatives
(ZERI) is a global network of creative minds seeking solutions
to world challenges. ZERI's view is that
waste is a resource and problems are best solved using nature's
design principles as inspiration. Several members of the
Sustainnovation team are Certified ZERI Practitioners.
EPA's WasteWise is a partnership program
to help members expand existing waste reduction programs
and adopt new, proven strategies.
Widely recognized as one of the leading socially
progressive banks in the country, Boston-based Wainwright
has pioneered such efforts as lending to homeless
shelters and creating 'green loans' for improving energy
efficiency - and yet the bank has consistently maintained
excellent financial performance.
The
Sustainable Business Network is Greater Boston’s
chapter of the
Business
Alliance for Local living Economies (BALLE). It
is an organization of business leaders committed to
promoting high ethical standards in business, a multiple-stakeholder
business model, productive and fulfilling workplaces,
and environmentally sustainable business practices.
